Children and the COVID vaccine...that was addressed during a roundtable discussion between Governor DeSantis and a number of doctors from across the country held in West Palm Beach on Monday.
The event wrapped up with Florida's Surgeon General Dr. Joe Ladapo making an announcement that "The Florida Department of Health is going to be a first state to officially recommend against the COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children."
That came after an emergency room doctor who's done a fair share of studying the pandemic said that a majority of studies have not found a single healthy child who's died from COVID and the few that have found them can't confirm they were healthy children.
The event was titled "The Curtain Close on COVID Theater," a theme the governor has referenced recently and talked about during the discussion.
"We've seen a lot of politicization of science. We've seen dissenters punished."
DeSantis says the event was held ahead of the second anniversary of "15 Days to Slow the Spread" in order to discuss the "failures in response to COVID-19" by "lockdown politicians" and the medial establishment who he says have continually ignored data and instead choose to stoke fear.
Dr.Jay Bhattacharya, a Professor of Health Policy at Stanford University, called lockdowns "immoral" and said they should be seen as a "dirty word."
There was a comment from Dr. Ladapo about what he called "entertainment" during the pandemic when he said politicians from "lockdown states" would come to Florida for fun in the sun.
DeSantis gave a full endorsement of Ladapo, saying:
"The good think about having Joe as surgeon general (is) I really don't have to supervise his daily activities. If CNN is attacking him, I know he's doing the right thing and so I can just use that as my barometer."
The governor also mentioned that because of things like vaccine mandates, the medical community become a threat to our rights in the minds of many residents and work must begin to regain trust.
