In our Election Spotlight, the City of Greenacres has three sitting Council members being challenged, including the holder of the District 4 seat.

Jonathan Pearce says he's proud that the city has not raised its millage rate in four years and promises to continue maintaining the infrastructure, including...

"We're going to install sewers throughout our original section off 10th Avenue (North) and get rid of all the septic tanks."

His challenger, Susy Diaz, says she's ready for the job.

"Professionally I worked under two different mayoral administrations in the City of West Palm Beach. So I do have first hand knowledge of how city governments run and how the departments work."

And she says she has experience managing a multi-million dollar budget through her current job of overseeing a foundation.

Diaz points out that 46 percent of Greenacres residents identify as Hispanic. She's the daughter of Cuban immigrants.

"I do think it's important. I think diversity on a dais is essential. I think the look of the Council should represent the look of the community."

Pearce's response to that...

"I have 30 years of business experience where I own my own company that I've built up over 30 years. I've utilized my business experience to help out (the) City of Greenacres tremendously. I'll allow the people to decide who they want to represent them."

Pearce owns a private equity firm.

On the Council since 2010, he also takes partial credit for getting term limits on the ballot in 2018. They were approved.

Diaz' name appears on the ballot as Susy Diaz Piesco.

Early Voting is underway in Palm Beach County through March 6 and Election Day is March 8.
