NORTH PORT -- The medical examiner for Sarasota County has released the autopsy for Brian Laundrie and it confirms some grim details of his death.
It's already known that Gabby Petito's fiance and the only suspect in her death shot himself to death at the Carlton Reserve in September. His body was discovered several weeks later after summer rain waters receded in the swampy nature preserve.
This report goes on to identify the bones found and identified with Laundrie's remains, as well as non-human bones found at the scene (wild boar and cow). It confirms that when investigators got to the remains, there were signs of "chewing and gnawing", presumably from animals.
Personal items found at the scene include green shorts, a green belt, a backpack, and a snub-nose revolver. A secondary scene revealed animal remains, a handwritten half note, and a hat with the logo "MOAB Coffee Roasters." Laundrie and Petito were involved in a domestic violence incident in Moab on August 12th, about two weeks before Petito's murder. Police were later faulted for several mistakes in their handling of the case.
