An 80-year-old woman is now safe after a very dangerous hostage situation involving a naked, bloody home invader thanks to the popular new game 'Wordle.'
Her daughter knew something was wrong when her mother, Denyse Holt, hadn't submitted her daily Wordle answer for the day and replied to any of the texts she had been sending her. She called local authorities, who ended up having an 8-hour standoff with a man who had barricaded himself in Holt's home.
In the middle of the night, Denyse was awakened to a bloody man in her home who had cut himself on glass breaking in. He then ordered the 80-year-old to take a shower to him, then a bath. The intruder then proceeded to drag her around in her wet nightgown as he walked around her home, unplugging phones and trailing blood through her house. He eventually barricaded himself into her basement with a chair and some knives.
Luckily, thanks to Holt's daughter, Meredith Holt-Caldwell, Denyse is physically unharmed, and police were able to get the man into custody after using a stun gun.
All of this started simply because Meredith never received her daily Wordle submission & conversation from her mother.
