Earlier this week, in Marc Maron's "WTF" podcast, actor Peter Dinklage called out Disney for the use of dwarves in the new remake of Snow White, and Disney heard him and has responded.
Disney says that the filmmakers will be working with culture consultants to improve the story in their response.
“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community,” a Disney spokesperson told The New York Post. “We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period.”
