After being threatened to have nude photos of her revealed that were stolen, Florida State Senator Lauren Book is now fighting back with a new bill to strengthen the revenge porn law.
During the investigation, Sen. Lauren Book learned that the images stolen from her had been bought and traded online since 2020.
Now, she is fighting back the best way that a legislator can, by introducing a new bill to stop things like this from happening again.
Her new bill would strengthen Florida's revenge porn law by making it a felony to buy, sell or trade stolen sexually explicit images from someone's phone or other digital devices. It would also make disseminating altered or created sexually explicit photos, known as deep fakes, a felony.
Victims would be able to seek up to $10,000 in damages from the perpetrator.
