The Palm Beach County School District's police chief has turned in his resignation.
Dan Alexander says his last day will be January 21.
He joined the school district in December of 2019 after serving as Boca Raton Police Chief for over 13 years. Alexander first served as Deputy Chief and then was promoted to Chief of School Police last April.
According to his letter of resignation, Alexander has taken a new job on a county executive management team outside of Florida.
The school district will conduct a nationwide search for a new police chief.
