Florida Democrats have been asking "Where's Ron?" amid the COVID surge. But the governor's press secretary says he's been working.
From Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings to South Florida Senator Shevrin Jones, elected Democrats across the state have been criticizing Governor DeSantis for being, in their words "missing in action," as Florida hits record breaking numbers of COVID cases. One even tweeting a "Missing" poster with the governor's face on it.
He hasn't held a public event since December 20th, but according to DeSantis' public schedule, he had meetings with members of his staff, along with the state's surgeon general on Thursday.
He also had calls and meetings the days before and after Christmas.
The governor's Press Secretary Christina Pushaw tweeted those schedules and wrote that with a wife and three kids, it's "not surprising if he wants to take a few days off at Christmas to spend time with his family, especially as his wife is battling cancer."
