A special Congressional primary is heading to recount, with Palm Beach County's elections supervisor ready to get it underway as soon as Friday.
The machine recount comes as Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness leads healthcare executive Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick by just 12 votes in Tuesdays Democrat primary for the District 20 seat vacated when Alcee Hastings died.
"I was very surprised that it was that close."
Holness says that he thought he would perform better in Palm Beach where he captured less than 8 percent of the vote. He came in fifth out of eleven candidates there, but was the top vote-getter in Broward, at 29 percent.
Both counties are likely to do manual recounts in the race as well.
