CLEARWATER -- By a 5-2 vote, the Pinellas County Commisson has OK'd a one-time $750 payment for county employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Administrator Barry Burton says he's happy with the results of the incentive program. "Having an incentive for those who feel comfortable with getting the shot... is important. I think it is well worth the money."
Commissioner Dave Eggers was one of the two no votes. He called the bonus "an enticement of someone who may have had principles" opposing vaccination.
Burton says conditions at county offices are different from 30 to 60 days ago, when the Delta variant raged through the area and the virus was impacting day to day operations.
