The West Palm Beach Police Department announced some sad news over the weekend. They lost another member of the force to COVID-19.
Officer Anthony Testa died from complications to the virus on Saturday. He started with the department in August 2017.
The former U.S. Army combat medic was flown to Cleveland last month for a last-ditch effort to save his life. He was put on an ECMO life support machine, after his fellow officers and local non-profits banded together to gather the money for his trip.
A deputy chief with the West Palm Beach PD says the officer used his medic training in the field.
Testa leaves behind a wife and son.
He's the second officer in the agency to succumb to a battle with COVID-19. 47-year old West Palm Beach Officer Robert Williams, a 20-year veteran with the department, died in August.
