A controversial rapper and South Florida native is giving out free AC units to underprivileged families.

Kodak Black's Zachariah McQueen Foundation teamed up with a Palm Beach charity to give away around 150 units in South Florida so far.

Francky Pierre-Paul with A Different Shade of Love says he met a lot of surprised residents in Riviera Beach over the weekend.

"We had people that cried, it's like dude you're really giving us an AC unit? Yeah, why not? We know what it feels like."

The Palm Beach County man says he knows what it's like to have no AC because he "grew up in the projects." Pierre-Paul explains that air conditioners in underprivileged neighborhoods tend to break during the summer months and go unrepaired.

He and Black also gave out AC units in the rapper's hometown of Pompano Beach during the July 4th weekend.

Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kahan Kapri, is on probation after pleading guilty to assaulting a teenage girl in South Carolina, and served half of a 46-month sentence for making a false statement on a firearm application, before having that commuted by former President Trump.
