A South Florida city failed to report a resident's illness was possibly linked to its drinking water supply.
According to the Palm Beach County Office of Inspector General's report, evidence was found that certain staff with the City of Delray Beach were aware of at least one report of sickness, caused by reclaimed drinking water at the same time that the city falsely reported to the Department of Health that no reports of illness had been received.
That was back in December of 2018, one month after a resident reported to the city's water and sewer manager that they had gotten sick from drinking water.
The O.I.G. says it was unable to determine whether the water was the official cause of illness.
City officials blame a "breakdown in communication" for that information not getting to upper management.
