The Appropriations Committee has voted in favor of the 2021-22 Florida House budget.
Proposed healthcare spending, presented by Representative Bryan Avila, includes nearly $240-million to extend Medicaid post-partum care from two to 12 months.
More than $112-million of proposed Education spending, presented by Florida Representative Randy Fine, focuses on finding some of the 78-thousands students who have dropped out of the system since a shift to online learning during the pandemic.
And while presenting Higher Education spending, Representative Rene Plasencia says there'll be a $556-million reduction for the state university system, but adds that schools have received more than 4 point 1 billion in stimulus funds.
The proposed House budget is more than $97-billion for the 2022 fiscal year.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is also seeking to pass their proposed budget today which tops out at $95-billion.
