A new report Best Life revealed the most expensive states in the U.S. 

They determined the list based on factors like: 

• Average home value
• Property tax rate
• Average state and local tax rate
• Average median annual household income in each state

Here is a list of the Top Ten Most Expensive States: 

1. California
2. Washington
3. Hawaii
4. New Jersey
5. Massachusetts
6. New York
7. Colorado
8. Illinois
9. Maryland
10. Utah

Florida came in at 21.
