Arinn Bolin- Electronics Recycling Drive at ZooTampa

Arinn Bolin, Manager of Guest Engagement Ambassadors, Conservation at ZooTampa, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss the Electronics Recycling Drive at ZooTampa happening Monday, January 18th, from 10 am until 1 pm.

The zoo will provide an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted electronics.

Handheld electronic devices contain a material called coltan which is often destructively mined in Central Africa, home to many endangered species like okapis, chimpanzees, and gorillas.

By recycling your old electronic devices it allows for coltan to be reused, decreasing the need for mining – an action that ultimately helps to protect habitats and save wildlife.

Recyclable Items:

·Cell phones & Smartphones

·iPods or other MP3 players

·iPads or other tablets

·WiFi hot spots

·Handheld gaming devices

·GPS units

·Speakers

·Electronic accessories such as chargers, cables, rechargeable batteries, blue tooth headsets, etc.

By donating to this year’s drive, you aren’t just contributing to a local effort to save species—you are contributing to a global conservation effort/.
