Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister joined AM Tampa bay to discuss Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office launches Behavioral Resources Unit.
The new unit will identify individuals who have come into contact with law enforcement numerous times due to mental health issues or homelessness.
It is made up of deputies and newly hired licensed mental health counselors, and licensed clinical social workers.
The Behavioral Resources Unit will connect individuals with the services they need before they are in a crisis and hopefully keeping them out of the criminal justice system in the future.
