Brian Perrsaro, TBARTA (Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority) Principal Planner, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss Tampa Bay Transit has been studying the Hyperloop and gondolas systems. Is this a possibility for Tampa Bay?
The study is looking at three innovative forms of transit technology: hyperloop, air taxis, and aerial gondolas. The first two, hyperloop and air taxis, are still experimental at this point.
The main purpose of the study is to get a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of these three technologies.
The study is ongoing, and in the next phase, it will check to see what federal and state regulations would apply, and a high-level preliminary analysis of where these technologies could make sense.
