In this video, you'll see what retailers like Amazon do with unsold inventory.
If you think about how many products and items are for sale on websites by retailers, you may have wondered what they do with all the excess products that don't get sold or are returned.
According to CNBC, " Returns in the U.S. create more than 5 billion pounds of waste in landfills each year and more than 15 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. The problem is only growing as Amazon leads the way in bringing more shoppers online, where the rate of returns is 25%, compared to just 9% for in-store purchases."
The products are usually sold to landfills or incinerated, but with billions of pounds of unsold items, it's become a major issue.
Major retailers and tech companies are now increasing donation efforts to avoid clogging landfills.
