Bowling Green, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-A Florida State Corrections Officer has been arrested for DUI after pulling up next to two Polk County Sheriff's Office Patrol Units outside the Bowling Green Bar on Highway 17, South.
Deputies were conducting an investigation into a fight at the bar when 27 year-old Richie Evans of Wauchula pulled his SUV into the bar's driveway between two marked patrol cars with their emergency lights on.
When a deputy walked up to ask Evans if he saw the marked patrol cars, the deputy smelled alcohol. The deputy also spotted a half full beer can inside a cup holder in Evans' vehicle. Evans was arrested after failing a field sobriety test.
Evans is a Corrections Officer with the Florida Department of Corrections at Avon Park Correctional Institution.
