Florida Gas Prices Spike

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Gas prices here in Florida increased an average of 15 cents per gallon last week according to AAA. The jump was the second-largest weekly increase in the U.S. Kentucky was first.

The auto club's Mark Jenkins says the big jump was due to reduced refinery output, lower gas supplies and rising demand. Jenkins is also predicting that prices could rise some more between now and Memorial Day.

Florida drivers are paying an average of $2.62 for a gallon of regular. That state average is 10 cents more than a year ago.

The most expensive gas in Florida is in the West Palm-Boca Raton area at $2.62. The least expensive gas in Florida can be purchased in Pensacola at $2.48.
