Fire Races Through Lakeland Apartment Building Dozens Needing Shelter

Lakeland,Fl. (NewsRadio WFLA)- Dozens of people need a new place to live after a fire in Polk County.

It happened Monday evening in North Lakeland at the Arbor Glen Apartments on Deep Forest Court. No one was hurt, but 24 families are displaced, and the building is destroyed. At least one pet was rescued.

The fire appears to have started in the attic. There's no word on a cause, but a fire official suspects it was electrical.

It took crews almost four hours to contain the fire. The American Red Cross is helping those families that were displaced to find temporary accommodations.
