After months of keeping mum about his choice for a successor, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn has now made an endorsement. He's supporting former police chief Jane Castor.
Buckhorn says he believes Castor will continue a positive focus as she faces her runoff opponent, retired banker David Straz.
Straz has been critical of Castor's leadership as chief, particularly a controversial bike citation program that impacted African Americans. He also vows to rid the city of red light cameras.
Castor came in first place in Tuesday's election with 48-percent of the vote. Straz took the second spot with 15-percent. The runoff is April 23rd.
