Plant City, Fla.-(2/28/2019)-It's the time for all things sweet as the Florida Strawberry Festival is up and running on the festival grounds here. As you can see, strawberry shortcake is the KING of the big show.
The festival has been a longtime event in the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World. What was once the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds morphed into what is now the berry fest. The grounds have expanded to king size over the years.
Newcomers will find the festival much like the Florida State Fair with all the corn dogs and rides. But, that is where the comparisons stop. You'll find agricultural displays that show how the modern berry farmer grows his crop. I don't think you'll find a build your own shortcake stand at the fair. You'll just have to go to see for yourself.
The festival also features big name entertainment. It doesn't get any bigger than Willie Nelson, Alabama and Kool and the Gang. The festival has added a new stadium in recent years to accommodate a lot of music fans.
The festival runs through March the 10th.
