8th Grader Arrested For School Threat

St. Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Police say they've arrested an 8th grader at Bay Point Middle School for making a false threat. Officers say the 13 year-old boy told a friend not to go to school the next day because he was going to bring his guns.

The student went home and told her parents and they called police. Investigators then went to the boy's home where police did not find any firearms. The teen told officers that he wasn't serious when he made his comments.

Police determined that it was not a credible threat and no students were in danger. Police decided to charge the student with making a false threat concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner since his comments caused alarm among both parents and students.
