One Arrested In Sarasota Officer Attack

Sarasota, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)- Police here are charging a 16 year-old boy with felony battery on a law enforcement officer for that attack on the man inside a city park.

The off-duty officer was jogging at Payne Park when he noticed a group of teens taunting and beating a homeless man. When the officer identified himself and told the teens to stop, they turned on him.

The boys attacked and punched the officer, hitting him in the face and on his head numerous times. Both the officer and the homeless man were left with injuries, but will recover.

Police continue to look for the other teens who were involved in the attack.
