Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)- AAA says the cost of gasoline here in Florida is on the rise again after gas prices were the lowest in three years in January. The auto club says gas costs rose by 8 cents a gallon last week.
The good news is the average price of $2.28 per gallon is 53 cents less than it was in early October. The Florida average for a gallon of gas a year ago was $2.61.
The Auto Club Group's Mark Jenkins says this is the time of the year gas prices become more volatile due to rising demand. Jenkins says the demand goes up quite a bit as Florida gets an influx of winter visitors and residents.
The most expensive gas prices in Florida are in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area at $2.37. Cheapest gas can be found in Pensacola at $2.20.
