Two arrested after child eats THC infused gummy

Cape Coral, FL - Police in Southwest Florida have arrested two adults after a 6-year-old child was admitted to the emergency room for ingesting candy laced with THC.

Cape Coral Police arrested 33-year-old Keri Ann Garcia on November 29th after Garcia found the child unresponsive, having difficulty breathing, and possibly having a seizure.

When interviewed by police, Garcia told investigators that the medical issue could have stemmed from an incident where the child fell at a grandmother's home and knocked out her two front teeth.

Garcia called 911 and the child was taken to the hospital, where it was determined the symptoms were caused by the child ingesting a THC gummy.

Garcia admitted to police that she and 39-year-old James Richard Sneider both smoke marijuana and keep marijuana edibles in a mini-fridge on the floor next to the front door.

Police obtained a warrant for the home where they discovered green gummies shaped like marijuana leaves that contained high-levels of THC.

Garcia and Sneider were arrested on charges of drug possession and child neglect with great bodily harm.
