Lakeland Police Arrest 13-Year-Old in Shooting Incident

Police in Lakeland have arrested a 13-year-old in connection with a shooting on Sunday.

Police say the teen was inside a car at the Salvation Army building on Jim Galloway Rd, and had placed a 9 mm handgun in his waistband. The gun went off, and the bullet struck the leg of an 11-year-old girl.

The 13-year-old, who was on probation, is now facing several felony and misdemeanor charges.

The girl was admitted to an area hospital, and is expected to be okay.
