Lennard HS Student Accused of Dealing Dope on Ruskin Campus

Ruskin, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - A student faces drug charges, accused of dealing marijuana at his school, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies arrested Abraham Ruelas, 18, at Lennard High School Friday and say they found him with a jar full of pot, 7 "Dank Vape" THC oil cartridges, an electronic scale, four electronic smoking devices and $1,519 in cash, according to a news release from the HCSO.

The release said that Ruelas admitted to selling the marijuana and other items at the school, and had done so "on and off for a while." Ruelas was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession of Marijuana Sativa Resin, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

"We have no tolerance for drugs in our Hillsborough County schools, but it's especially upsetting when the drug dealer is a student," the news release quoted Sheriff Chad Chronister as saying. "It's disheartening to see a young person who just turned 18 two months ago now facing some very adult charges for his bad decisions."
