Hillsborough Transit Boss Takes the Wheel

TAMPA (WFLA News) -- It's the first day on the job for the new boss of the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority, and he plans to spend his first day on the job listening.

Benjamin Limmer plans to spend his first month behind the wheel of HART, talking to employees, stakeholders and the thousands of customers who take the bus every day. After voters passed a new sales tax for transportation, Limmer wants them to know they can trust that HART's share will be well spent.

"To build trust requires a tremendous amount of listening and understanding of what the challenges and needs are, of the people we serve," Limmer said.

Limmer says he wants to go beyond customer service to customer satisfaction, saying he's committed to "building a premiere transit system that is (the envy) of many regions throughout the country."

Limmer is starting Monday morning by holding a meet and greet with customers at the Marion Transit Center. He plans a public listening session at the Robert W. Saunders Public Library at 1505 Nebraska Avenue, from 5:30 to 6:30 Monday evening.
