Candidates for Governor Sign No-Fracking Pledge

TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- An environmental group says three of the seven major candidates for governor have signed a pledge to work on banning fracking in Florida... and more.

Michelle Allen,  senior Florida organizer with Food and Water Action, says they've agreed to ban fracking, either by getting a law through the Legislature or by executive order, and they've agreed to fight any federal attempts to start offshore drilling in waters near Florida.

Allen says Democrats Phillip Levine, Andrew Gillum and Jeff Greene have also agreed not to take campaign funding from oil and gas interests.

Food and Water Action is also releasing a letter from more than 100 city officials in Florida calling for a fracking ban.
