Thousands Of Gallons Of Re-Claimed Water Leaks Into Smacks Bayou

St. Petersburg, Fla.(970 WFLA)-About 120,00 gallons of re-claimed water leaked into Smacks Bayou Wednesday after a contractor working on a storm drain project near 34th avenue and Poplar Street broke a main distribution pipe.

According to St.Petersburg's Public Works spokesman Bill Logan, the leak of  fully-treated reclaimed-quality water lasted about twenty minutes.

Logan says water samples will be taken, and tested for contamination  to determine if there's  any potential damaging impact on the environment.
