During the latest court hearing, Hillsborough County prosecutors announced they were dropping charges against one of the three Manatee County men accused of animal cruelty in the shark dragging case.
The Hillsborough State Attorneys Office won't prosecute Spencer Heintz. His attorney maintains there is no evidence that his client ever took part in the capture and abuse of the shark last summer, an incident that was captured on video and sparked outrage among animal rights activists and state wildlife officials.
The case will proceed against Robert Benac and Michael Wenzel and there'll be a court hearing set for June 13th.
