Fake Cop Arrested

Curtis Walma, arrested in Venice, Fla., for impersonating a law officer.

Venice, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A man is under arrest for impersonating a law officer during a road rage incident in the area of Bellagio Boulevard and State Road 766.

Sarasota deputies say 55 year-old Curtis Walma apparently got mad at some people in another vehicle on Jacaranda Boulevard and drove alongside the vehicle in a dangerous way. The other folks say Walma cut them off and blocked the entrance to their neighborhood.

Walma then told the people in the other vehicle he was a police officer.  Walma even had flashing blue lights on his vehicle.  But, when the people Walma stopped became suspicious and called 911, Walma took off.

Deputies later caught up with Walma and have charged him with impersonation of a law enforcement officer and criminal mischief.
