Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The state average for a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped 9 cents in the past week. Triple A has gas averaging $2.20 cents in Tampa today. That price is 5 cents less than this time a year ago.
The auto club says the price drop comes as oil prices take a pounding for the third week in a row. AAA's Mark Jenkins expects the low prices to stick around for a while unless something causes oil prices to rise. We are in hurricane season, so a surprise storm in the Gulf of Mexico could cause prices to rise.
The most expensive gas prices in Florida are in West Palm Beach at $2.36. Lowest Florida gas prices are in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.
